San Diego Food Bank
For the month of August support San Diego Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program through their annual Dollar-A-Dish Campaign! Restaurants, breweries and cafes all over San Diego County participate in the Food Bank’s Dollar-A-Dish campaign every year, including CUCINA! Every time a lunch pizza at CUCINA urbana or CUCINA enoteca + dinner pizza at CUCINA sorella is ordered, $1 is donated to the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program. The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekend backpacks filled with nutritious food to elementary school students living in poverty. Kids on the program receive free school meals Monday through Friday, but face hunger at home on the weekends. The backpack of food they receive sees them through the weekend so they can return to school ready to learn on Monday. Voices for Children
For the month of July CUCINA will donate a percentage of sales of every glass or bottle of CUCINA wine to Voices for Children, an organization that transforms the lives of abused, abandoned or neglected children by providing them with trained, volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates. Many feel very much alone—until they meet their CASA. While the foster care system comprises many talented and passionate professionals, it is also overburdened. CASAs visit with their case children at least once a month. This provides the children with stability and consistency and allows the CASAs to better understand the needs of the children, as well as the children themselves. For the month of June CUCINA will donate a percentage of sales of every glass or bottle of CUCINA wine to Project HEAL, whose mission is to prove that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible and should be accessible. Led by a powerhouse female team, Project HEAL has come to understand that money is not the only barrier to accessing treatment and that clinical treatment is only a piece of the puzzle. After creating Project HEAL’s Treatment Access Program and the Communities of HEALing with chapters all over America, they continue to seek new knowledge and understanding of eating disorder recovery from both academic research and first hand experience.
